Paige Burney is a Yarra-Valley-born singer forging a path in Melbourne’s Jazz scene with The Paige Burney Trio. A seasoned performer and story-teller, her vocal prowess is evident as she moves effortlessly from crystal clear to warm, soulful sounds. Paige’s passion for Jazz, ignited in childhood through ‘Poppa Burney’ secretly sliding her Jazz CDs, planted the seed for finding true love: in Jazz music.
Connecting with jazz-great Bob Sedergreen in 2017 honed Paige’s vocal props and in 2018, the jazz history, improv and jams at the Australian Jazz Museum, led to her working with talented duo: Dan Mason, saxophone (Monash Uni Big Band, Cardinia Civic Concert Band, Steve Messer’s Stranger Country) and Mark Giliam, guitar (The Peppercorns, Dirty Dozen Jazz Band). Cutting their teeth across Melbourne venues including Open Studio, The Brunswick Green and The Moldy Fig, ‘The PB Trio’ secured showcases at both the 2020 Port Fairy and Inverloch Jazz Festivals. The trio delight in taking their audiences on a journey and in 2020 look forward to sharing their Melbourne-jazz-originals, for listeners who love their traditional jazz roots with a contemporary twist.
